A continuing shift in plot focus and everyone having superspeed flight were the biggest causes of the change, but Instant Transmission was the final nail in the coffin: the journeying days of Dragon Ball were over. But by the time Namek happened, that aspect had become much less important, to the point that the last two or three dragon ball hunts weren’t even shown on-panel. Fighting was always the most important focus, of course, but the adventure part was usually around as well, and even took center stage in some arcs.
